Technical Drawings

I hate drawing things on the computer and I really like doing drawings of technical things in a beautiful way. Apparently it makes some people think my work is less legitimate or something, but I think that's their problem.

Drawn for my heat transfer project presentation.

Tent Dress Tent

It's a dress and a functional tent. It's made of tyvek, which is surprisingly comfortable. There are family photos sewn to the inside of the walls.
Technically it's a "survival suit for cultural crisis" or some bullshit (for my art class).
It's going to be in tent mode for our public presentation tomorrow so I only took pictures of it being a dress, but the tent is nice too.

Graphic Design?

I made this logo for a friend to go with his energy network research thing.

Poo

I don't have time to make art. I'm even in an "art" class and I don't do anything worth posting. I did spend 30 hours this week TA-ing the best class ever, which is fulfilling *like* art, but it is not art. I can't even sew new socks to replace all the ones that have holes because I lent my last spool of thread to someone and I can't remember who it was. Hurr.

Walcott Totoro

Totoro is dying. The fabric is disintegrating. But this picture is awesome!

Credit to Liz for the picture.

Contents of Purse

My camera's been out of batteries for more than a month now, so I don't have anything new to share. I did find this on my computer:

I must have drawn it on a plane because I was carrying my passport and both brass rats.

Cheap Markers

These Crayola markers are actually pretty great until they run out of ink.

Back when I was a Real Artist

I found a sketchbook from four years ago when I was still making art for several hours a day.

Critters

Some of my illustrations for work* today look like they belong on a plate under a microscope.

Something is Killing the Butterflies

My ride to work would be a lot quicker if I weren't compelled to stop and pick up every dead butterfly.

Not Being Creative

I guess I have a lot of other stuff going on. Mainly dental work.
And watching Hello Baby in its entirety.

It's really dry here so I'm drawing some dried up dead flowers I found at the bus stop.

People I Think are Attractive Wearing Stuff on their Heads

Could be the title of the series of portraits I seem to be making. This one's different though because the subject is pretty important to me :)

Safety Goggles Holy Crap

Yes, I drew a portrait of someone I've never met based on a still from YouTube. But LOOK AT THOSE SAFETY GOGGLES! They look like the same kind I have at work, except made way more awesome.
Anyway, I have been thinking about what my high school English teacher Greg wrote about getting inspired (this too). I am totally bored at work and I am not yet sure how to apply his discipline-->inspiration theory there. To make more of my free time, I have decided that I must do one creative act every day. Either sew something or draw in my sketchbook or make prints or possibly cook, though if it's cooking it has to be especially awesome and I have to share. I think this will make me a lot happier.

Art at Work

I drew this to illustrate the metal sputter process for a presentation, and I ended up really liking it. So here it is on my blog. Note that there is a charge on the target, not pictured.

Triangle Pattern Print

Maybe kind of a draft.

Prints

These are reduction block prints and they are very small, only about 2"x2". For some reason, the colors came out a little funky in the picture. You should probably click to see them better.

New Room

My summer room is pretty sparse: a bed, a lamp, a mirror, and my alarm clock on the floor.

Robo-pwnage

1) Score

2) Cockblock!

When I get less angry at my art prof I'll probably post some more traditional art. Also when I find my camera card I'll put up some pictures of dresses I made recently.

I Feel Like it's the Weekend

It was a tough week despite being two days long. Tomorrow is technically a weekday but I put off things that are due tomorrow until...tomorrow. To paint a vanilla-bottle stencil doormat on my floor.

And now, an update on my soft sculpture kit project:

More Prints

I made these reduction prints over christmas freshman year. I think I actually made them on Christmas while I was avoiding my extended family.

Conjoined Twins

At some point senior year I was obsessed with conjoined twins and I made these prints:
