Bird House

For my public art class I think I want to make a bird that you can go inside of. I'll make a steel frame with room for sandbags at the bottom so it probably won't get stolen, and a fabric cover on the outside, or maybe a fabric-epoxy composite to make it waterproof. The inside will be covered with very soft pillowy fabric sculpture for sitting or sleeping, with secret pictures and objects embedded like jewels in the walls. For one or two people. You have to lift up the wing to get inside.

...

I gave a presentation on my previous work today to the graduate art class I got myself into. When I was taking questions, the professor asked me, "how do you do in your mechanical engineering classes?"
I wasn't really sure what to make of that. When he repeated himself, I said I do well.

I ended up later arguing with a (male, engineer) friend who thinks females are genetically less likely to be good engineers, though he says it doesn't apply to me.

Susanna and the Elders

Two or three years ago I tore half of this painting out of a French photography magazine in the free section at SCRAP. I finally figured out that it is called Susanna and the Elders, painted by Tintoretto in 1556. I think it's awesome.

I generally disapprove of copying paintings but I did it anyway:
