My Other Blog

Is it more or less creepy if I call it an art project?

Wind-Up Bird Door

Collage of National Geographic pages after the cover of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. I coated it with a glossy decoupage medium, hence the glare. Enlarge to see it better.

Pattern for Nick

Drawn during hall rush while shamelessly courting my favorite frosh, who ranked us behind Putz. What a dumb asshole.

Hall Rush

This will be printed four to a page and given to the freshmen. Not very exciting out of context but I was pleased with my design.

Drawn on the Caltrain

Drawing cute things usually improves my mood.

Meanwhile in Palo Alto, my front bike wheel was getting stolen.

Triangle Performance Dress

I'm making this dress for my performance, in which I will draw a triangle pattern with chalk until I can't move anymore. I imagine the dress will get destroyed during this process.
I came up with the design in stupid thermo class that I hate lecture.

Mantis Update

It might be hard to tell the scale from this picture. It's 13' long, but it only weighs about 4 lb.

The Plan

Sound Attenuation Huarglblarg

Drawing diagrams in power point is, unfortunately, my life.

But it's okay because I'm going to make a 12' praying mantis costume for my performance art class! Which might piss my teacher off because it does not follow the assignment. Hm.

Body Art

My performance class has me thinking about art and the body. Art on my body and other peoples bodies...?
I made this bracelet/necklace with tea inside of it because I was worrying about school and I figured I could smell it in moments of stress.

And how have I gotten this far in my life without taking advantage of this wonderful form of decoration--drawing on myself! I plan to be permanently temporarily tattooed.

How obvious is it that I've had more caffeinated beverages than hours of sleep in the past 3 days?

I did an awesome performance tonight at Sprout in Somerville. Video was recorded but I don't have it. So I don't know for sure if it really was awesome but it felt good.

My Foray into Poetry

O God of schedules, thou dost punish me
With Thursday classes in a six-hour block.
But hungry, sleepy staring at the clock
I deem worthwhile, for I get Fridays free.

New "Couch"

I really want a couch but this will have to do for now.

The pillow on top is made from Japanese fabrics people have given me, and the bottom is something I made in high school.
In other news, today I applied for a Visual Arts and Design minor!

Wallets

Apparently the wallets I designed for the Media Lab when I was a freshman have been getting some press. Here's a really nice picture of the "peacock." I made it so that when the leather is stretched, the shiny red feather-looking bits open up and show themselves.

Maybe one day I'll make a nice wallet for myself. The grungy purse I made six years ago and still carry around is getting to be kind of an embarrassment.

Blarg

Will working in my old style remind me how to be an artist?
