...

I gave a presentation on my previous work today to the graduate art class I got myself into. When I was taking questions, the professor asked me, "how do you do in your mechanical engineering classes?"
I wasn't really sure what to make of that. When he repeated himself, I said I do well.

I ended up later arguing with a (male, engineer) friend who thinks females are genetically less likely to be good engineers, though he says it doesn't apply to me.

  1. The genetic argument that men are smarter than women is such crap. As more time goes on, there is greater evidence that men and women tend to be fairly balanced. There is some research to suggest that men may develop stronger visuo-spatial skills in high school than women, but there isn't evidence that men are smarter than women.
